Dental Crowns in Monterey
Restore your smile
A dental crown should look, feel and function exactly like a natural tooth. At Curtis E. Jansen, DDS, we use cutting edge materials and techniques to produce crowns with maximum longevity and maximum aesthetic appeal.
What is a crown?
The “crown” of your tooth is the part that sits above the gum line. When a tooth is damaged by cracks, breakage or excessive decay, or has undergone root canal treatment, we restore that tooth with an artificial crown, made of porcelain, ceramic or porcelain bonded to gold. As prosthodontists, we have extensive training in the production of the most authentic crowns that you will ever see – ours often outlast the typical dental crown by years and sometimes even decades.
Crowns by Your Prosthodontist
Prosthodontists are dentists with several years of additional training that cover several important areas of dentistry, including crowns. When designing and producing crowns, we take extra care to ensure that your tooth isn’t just the right shape, but it is the exact color and even translucency – this is the only way to achieve a truly natural-looking restoration.
How long does a dental crown take?
The procedure usually takes just two visits – the first to place the temporary crown and the second to place the permanent one.
- Temporary Crown: During the first visit, we will remove decay and shape your tooth to prepare it for the new crown. A dental impression will be taken for the lab and a temporary crown will be placed on your tooth.
- Permanent Crown: Once we receive your new crown from our on site dental laboratory (typically within 2 weeks), you will return to us for a appointment to permanently attach the crown and fit it to perfection!
Same Day Crowns
Same Day Dentistry
Life is busy enough without having to make multiple trips to the dental office over several days. Now with digital dental technology found at CEJ Dentistry, you can get your restorations in a single visit.
How It Works
First we prepare the tooth for the restoration (ie: crown, veneer, bridge, etc.). Next we scan your tooth, capturing everything we need digitally onto a laptop. Then, your custom restoration is designed to fit your unique smile. Once designed, the digital file is sent to our on site dental laboratory where our state of the art milling unit creates your custom restoration from a solid block of porcelain. Once milled we may try the restoration for fit and function; then it’s on to custom characterization, where we stain and glaze the restoration. The final restoration is cemented in your mouth the same day.
No more messy dental impressions?
Yup, you heard right! CEJ Dentistry uses state of the art laser technology, that is not only precise, but as safe as the checkout scanner at the grocery store. Unlike conventional impressions that can be messy, unpleasant and cumbersome, a digital scan is clean, fast and comfortable. Same day crowns are not ideal in all situations, ask a TEAM member if you are a candidate!
Beautiful Results
The benefits of digital restorations go beyond same day convenience. Your restorations will also look and feel completely natural. Digital precision means a perfectly comfortable fit. And because it’s metal free, your restoration will match the look and feel of your teeth for a beautiful, natural smile.
