Heather was born and raised in Salinas, CA. She started in the dental field working chairside as a dental assistant. In 2003 she decided to go back to school to further her education in the dental field and was accepted to Cabrillo College Hygiene Program where she went on to receive her RDH license. Being a local native she enjoys giving back to her community by doing hygiene volunteer work at a local church and the VA. In her free time she enjoys live music, working out, videography/photography, and spending time with her family.
Julia graduated from Pacific Grove High School, after which she started a 6-year educational journey to a Dental Hygiene Degree. She first obtained a Bachelors of Science Degree in Biology from Dominican University. After her B.S. Degree she was accepted to the Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene program at MCPHS. The Forsyth Dental Hygiene Program is the longest continually running Dental Hygiene program in the country. She earned a Post Baccalaureate Degree in Dental Hygiene. Upon graduating she worked in California and Nevada for several years. She then returned to Monterey Peninsula where she has been working for the last 9 years. In her free time Julia enjoys spending time with her two boys and husband taking hikes and cooking.
Frank Mercurio has owned and operated Mercurio Dental Arts in Kensington, California for over 35 years. He received his Associate in Arts degree, and Dental Technology degree from Diablo Valley College in Concord California. Frank studied Gnathological full-mouth reconstructive concepts with Dr. Peter K. Thomas, and Dr. Jack Hockel. He has been actively involved in implant restorative procedures since the early 1980’s. For the past six years Frank has been incorporating CAD/CAM procedures into his laboratory (E4D technology). He has been actively involved in both designing and finishing milled restorations for single teeth, or more complex functional and esthetic patient situations. In the past he has presented live hands on CAD/CAM courses involving stain glaze and add on procedures to various groups. He currently divides his time between his lab, Mercurio Dental Arts, in Kensington and Monterey California.
Irma Perez received her RDA in 1995 and RDAEF from University of California Los Angeles in 1996. She has been employed by Dr. Curtis E. Jansen, a Prosthodontist in Monterey, California for the past nineteen years. Her concentration and training involves numerous implant systems, including AO4 conversions, crown and bridge CAD CAM design. Currently, as a Clinical Integration Specialist, she assists dental practices with integrating the E4D or TRIOS system into their practices. She is an active board member of the Dental Assistant ROP Program in Salinas. In 2009 she received her CDD from E4D University. In 2008 she received her certification in the Lava Program, and in 2000 she completed her Procera Training.
Hiromi is an RDA who graduated from Monterey Peninsula College. She started her dental career with Dr. Jansen and after 14 years still strives to provide the best service to our patients. She heads up our surgery department where she works closely with our surgeon to change people’s lives by giving them a smile in a day. Hiromi enjoys finding great food and restaurants in her free time and has enjoyed her travels to Hawaii.
Chrystal has been in the dental field for 5 years and received her RDA in 2016. We are excited to have her back as a part time assistant after taking some time off to welcome a new baby boy. She works closely with our onsite lab to ensure each patient case is taken care of. She has the ability to jump in wherever she is needed and assist the staff to help the day run smoothly. In her free time she enjoys off-road camping and spending time with her son.
Maggie is an RDAEF who has been in the dental field for 7 years. After receiving her RDA from Monterey Peninsula College she continued her education at UOP in San Francisco where she received her Extended Functions and is now able to run our back office and work closely with Dr. Jansen giving patients basic fillings and providing patients with the knowledge they need to feel comfortable when they are in our office. When Maggie is outside of the office she enjoys spending time with her husband, two boys, and their dog.
Linda has been in the dental field for 11 years as a dental assistant and has recently transitioned to front office staff. Her knowledge in dentistry helps ease patients as she is scheduling them for their treatment. She works closely with our hygienists scheduling their patients’ cleanings and treatment. In her free time Linda enjoys spending time with her three daughters and taking them on traveling adventures.
Gwenn is a DA who graduated from Monterey Peninsula College and is currently working on getting her RDA licensing. She has been in the dental field for 5 years and has really enjoyed learning more dentistry in our office. Gwenn has enjoyed working closely with our new patients and building the relationship with them as well as loves preparing crowns. In her spare time she enjoys hiking, cooking and baking. Her cupcakes are the office favorite.
